How to install cold air intake cobalt ss

An incorporated velocity stack smooths out airflow to help maximize power gains. Comprehensive installation instructions including photos make installation of your new Injen Intake easy enough to do yourself with basic hand tools in a couple of hours or less.

Everything you need to install this air intake is included and the intake comes with a lifetime warranty. Injen Cold Air Intake Systems exceed OE standards and as a result will not void any existing factory warranties that you may have. Additionally, you'll enjoy increased horsepower and torque, as well as improved throttle response.

Fuel economy gains, especially during freeway conditions, are commonly achieved helping the unit to pay for itself over time. If you find a better price, call us and we will match or beat the price, and ship it the same day! Introducing a colorful peace of mind. Ever worry about water getting into your cold air intake system? Uniform micron openings allow the filtering of debris. Please note that this item is water repellent, not water proof. Basically, the Injen hydroshield is a water shield and prefilter for your air intake system.

It will allow air through and block water and large dirt particles, protecting your car and keeping your filter cleaner. Our Testimonials. Just like most car parts, there are different types of intakes as well: short pipe intakes, cold air intakes, and ram-air intakes. Short pipe intakes are basically self explanatory and are the easiest type of intake to install. Made of a short aluminum pipe paired with a high flow filter, they increase flow rate to the intake manifold to make more power at higher RPMs.

With short pipes you essentially lose power due to heat soak from the engine; warm air going into the engine is not good for engine life, fuel economy, or power.

Cold Air intakes are the most common and most beneficial for the LSJ motor. CAIs are designed similarly to short pipes except that the aluminum piping is longer and the opening is placed strategically away from the engine to prevent heat soak. In CAIs air is drawn from open spaces around the wheel well or front bumper.

Cold air traveling through the piping is much denser than the air inside the engine which makes the motor burn more fuel creating more power. Longer intake tubes means CAIs will be harder to install than short pipes. You may have to remove the front bumper and surrounding pieces to install a cold air intake.

Ram air intakes are similar to cold air intakes because they force cooler air into the engine through a collector. Again like cold air intakes, ram air intake openings are strategically placed away from the motor in the open space in by the front bumper.

Ram intakes are paired with high flow filters and collector cone to direct air into the tubes. Ram intakes are the best kind of intake for power gains because they are pressurized as the car moves faster, forcing more and cooler air into the engine creating more power.

Ram intakes also come in different sizes categorized as short-ram or long-ram. A short-ram intake will be similar in size to short pipes and will be affected by heat soak the same way unless a heat shield is added paired with a hood air scoop to provide direct air flow to the intake.

A long ram intake will have the similar affects as a CAI while retaining the functions of a ram intake. Air intakes help your engine breathe better and are a great, inexpensive mod for the Cobalt. Intakes are pretty simple to install. First you turn off the engine, pop the hood, and disconnect the battery. Next begin removing plastic panels surrounding your motor and bumper that are in the way of your stock air intake. Once you have removed those, begin removing the factory intake by loosening the clamps, unscrewing it from the engine bay, throttle body, and by detaching the MAF sensor from the intake.

Do not touch the inside of the throttle body once you remove the stock intake. Once you have removed the stock intake and after assembling the new aftermarket intake, attach the MAF sensor to the new intake and using the correct hoses and clamps for your new intake install it the opposite way.
