For example, if a lengthy word wraps to the next line and leaves a large amount of white space, you can insert an optional hyphen in that specific word so that the first part appears on the first line. If the word later moves to a different position because of editing, the optional hyphen does not print.
If further editing moves the word back into a hyphenation zone, the hyphen reappears:. See Using nonbreaking and optional hyphens. Any floating object in a document has an anchor that is tied to a particular paragraph. It can be moved, replaced or removed with that paragraph like its part. You can open the Paragraph dialog box and see keep marks by double-clicking on the appropriate keep mark. An other option is to change Word default settings. Choose File Options and under Display there are settings for displaying formatting marks. Changes made here will be default Word settings - from now new created documents will be shown with or without hidden characters, accordingly to options we have changed. The readings are then copied and pasted into the bulletin. On my Mac, the text looks good.
So far, so good. I send a softcopy of the bulletin to my church's office. They open it on the church computer, a PC, using Word It looks good there as well. On my Mac, Word tells me that Garamond is the font for every character in the reading. Now you will see the selected slice of text is hidden from the document. Here, I will reverse the method introduced above, and show all hidden text in the Word document quickly. See screenshot: Tip : when opening the Font dialog, you will get , click the checkbox for the first time, it will turn to checked , now click again, and it will be unchecked.
If you want to permanently show all hidden text in your Word document, you can configure Word options to get it done. In the Word Options dialog, please click Display in the left bar, check the Hidden text option in the Always show these formatting marks on the screen section. Now you will see all hidden text is displaying with dotted underline. You might have noticed that the hidden text will not be printed too. If you need to show the hidden text in the printouts, you need to configure the Word options.
